Day 31 - Roofing

They are not finish yet...




The side of the garage, two windows were added by our community for free, YAY. This is one of the reason why the permits took so long, our developers and the community (The Preserve) were not on the same page which resulted in the losing some buyers. They told them that every house must have two separate doors for the garage and these added windows. Some changes to the windows were made as well.

Other communities model of the Covington don't have the two windows on the garage. Also on the other side of the house the library and living have extra window added as well which were optional.

Well, here are two of them here inside of the garage holding up the garage ceiling...and above the garage I believe should be the bathroom in the my oldest daughters quarters (when she is not away at college).

A long post today but we are getting more excited. Today they will finish the roofing and the wrapping of the house will be next...enjoy!!!

Framing - Education

Framing, in construction known as light-frame construction, is a building technique based around vertical structural members, usually called studs, which provide a stable frame to which interior and exterior wall coverings are attached, and covered by a roof made of horizontal ceiling joists and sloping rafters (or pre-fabricated roof trusses).

Modern light-frame structures usually gain strength from rigid panels (plywood and other plywood-like composites such as oriented strand board (OSB) used to form all or part of wall sections) but until recently carpenters employed various forms of diagonal bracing (called wind braces) to stabilize walls. Diagonal bracing remains a vital interior part of many roof systems, and in-wall wind braces are required by building codes in many municipalities or by individual state laws in the United States.

Light frame construction using standardized dimensional lumber has become the dominant construction method in North America and Australia because of its economy. Use of minimal structural materials allows builders to enclose a large area with minimal cost, while achieving a wide variety of architectural styles. The ubiquitous platform framing and the older balloon framing are the two different light frame construction systems used in North America.

Day 18 - Knock, Knock

Wood, wood, wood.  What we have been waiting for.  I also saw some wood clamps over there. Let the framing begin.

Day 15 - Cement

The next set of pictures are of the basement...you can see it is nice and smoovy...one pix I slip the garage in...sorry about that.



And a picture of the garage again...the Preserses wants your two car garages to have two separate doors instead if one big door. So if you drive thru the neighborhood, you will notice the double doors on all garages. I personally like double doors for it forces you to park on either side not just pull in the middle. What do you prefer one or two doors.

Can anyone tell me what these four poles are for, I have not seen these before...hmmm. Maybe the legs to Jesus' breakfast table.
